Today celebrities gathered with their little ones for a gala performance of Hey Duggee The Live Theatre Show at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall.
Actress Helen George (Call The Midwife - BBC) and Charlene White (Loose Women, I’m A Celebrity) were among the star-studded attendees at Hey Duggee’s first-ever live theatre tour.
They were joined by actress, comedian and cartoonist Jessie Cave (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince – Warner Bros. Pictures), TV presenter Laura Jackson (Take Me Out: The Gossip - ITV, Ready or Not - BBC), mathematician and TV presenter Dr Hannah Fry (It’s a Numbers Game – BT Sport, The Curious Case of Rutherford and Fry – BBC Radio 4) and figure skater Vicky Ogden (Dancing With The Stars - ITV).
There were famous faces from CBeebies and CBBC, including Paralympian Ade Adepitan (Xchange – CBBC), Dr Chris van Tulleken (Operation Ouch! – CBBC) and Chantelle Lindsay (Teeny Tiny Creatures - CBeebies).
Hey Duggee The Live Theatre Show is a brand-new play packed with non-stop fun, laughs, singing and dancing. The live show will visit no less than 37 theatres across the UK and Ireland from December through to late August 2023. The tour includes a four-week run at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall (London), which began earlier this week (December 14).
The live show brings to life the smash hit CBeebies series through innovative puppetry and storytelling, featuring a dazzling light show and exciting projection.
Hey Duggee The Live Theatre Show has been adapted for the stage by Vikki Stone (#zoologicalsociety – Royal And Derngate, Romeo And Duet – ITV) and Matthew Xia (The Wiz – Hope Mill Theatre, associate director Actors Touring Company). Additionally, Vikki is musical supervisor and arranger and Matthew is also director for the production.
Hey Duggee The Live Theatre Show is presented by award-winning theatre producer Kenny Wax and theatre and live entertainment promoters Cuffe and Taylor in association with Live Nation.
Since bursting onto TV screens in 2014, the BBC Studios and Studio AKA creation has won seven BAFTAs and is an international Emmy award-winning hit.
Hey Duggee was the most streamed children’s show on BBC iPlayer in 2021 and is popular among both children and parents; with fans both young and old, up and down the country now able to join the much-loved character on tour.
